Stuff that will piss you off.

It seems there’s a growing trend to use a service member’s tour of duty against them when it comes to custody of children. The most disturbing quote from the article was from the attorney against the service member:

“She was not drafted. This was a job choice. She went into it with open eyes.”

It’s stupidity like that that makes you want to get rid of all lawyers - in a permanent sort of way. Why do we feel we can treat people in such a way just because they’ve done their duty to they’re country in time of war?!?

Wow, Fully Automatic Shotgun Action

WOW!! A few years ago (quite a few actually) I got to take a tour of a PC-14 Tornado class ship. Which is basically a floating hot lead delivery system. No, seriously. Seals used them as for cover fire for fast insertion and extraction. They’re armed with twin .50 caliber machine guns, 25mm fully automatic gun, stinger missile launchers, grenade launchers and more all packed into a 170ft hull with a 25 ft beam. The Seals still complained there wasn’t a 5 inch gun on board.

This video reminds me of that mentality. Truly a weapon with an enormous fear factor.

The Beginning of a New Era in Democracy

Via BoingBoing; Well, this is it, New Zealand - the country that legalized home distillation of alcohol, brought us tiki-gods, the most extreme “Extreme Sports”, Peter Jackson, Weta, was the home of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and much, much more - has now 0wnzrd democracy. They beat every other free nation in the world about the head and shoulders WITH freedom. What am I on about?

The New Zealand government has put the review process of it’s Police Act, which is coming up for review, onto the web in wiki-format! They’ve invited not only the New Zealand public to edit and make comments, but to also upload their own versions if they’d like.

This is one of the things that is so great about the internet! The freedom that it creates and the openness it promotes are paramount and need to be protected!

I just hope that all the people of New Zealand have at least access to the internet.
