About

About This Site:
This weblog is something I’ve been looking forward to doing for a long time, but between school, work and home renovations hadn’t been able to find the time to devote to it. I finally told myself “If you don’t start it some time, it’ll never happen.” So now that I’ve been at it a while, I’m still having problems finding the time to devote to it the way I’d like!

Why “Lucky Disasters”?
Well, have you ever said or done something that came out so hideously wrong that it seemed as though the world was over, or at least would never be the same again? Only later, looking back on those experiences you find you somehow managed to salvage some little bit of knowledge, some little bit of wisdom, or that that experience somehow changed the course of your life? Well, that’s kind of what this site will be about - my own experiences, interests and yes, stupidity (you’ll probably find a lot of that here).

I don’t tend to get things right the first time. That’s the way it seems anayway. All that planning and forethought, and reality usually ends up bitch slaping me back to square one. When I do get things right on the first try, I’m left wondering when the other shoe will drop!

So, hopefully, maybe someone else can learn from my [bad] example…

The Theme
I’m currently using the TypoXP 2 theme with a modified color scheme and header image. I’ll be trying my hand at php (something I haven’t yet worked with much) and writing a new theme at some point.

About Me:
I’m thrity… -ish and living in North Carolina. I have an AAS in Information Systems Security another in Network Support, and I’m currently working on a BS in Information and Computer Technologies. I served in the Navy for six years as an Electronics Technician and made two Med cruises on the USS Detroit (AOE-4) - for those of you with a Naval background this will tell you about how long ago I served - I’m a salty dog! ^_^

I’m married to a wonderful woman who coaches gymnastics, and I have a daughter whois - sorry - who is now in the third grade. We bought a house in August - September of 2006 and we’re currently in the process of renovating the one and only bathroom (*yippy*) - in addition to other endless, small things that seem to keep cropping up.

Read on and enjoy!
